Alice, Tom & real-life grammar
To make this a full-blooded course, one that is true to life, we invited our colleagues and friends Alice and Tom for an informal chat.
We gave them a number of cards with questions for which they were not prepared. There were groups of questions in the different tenses – present, past, future.
So what we got is a spontaneous, undirected conversation on various topics. Our aim was to get examples of natural language which comes alive when spoken and unfolds in an organic way.
First, we asked them to introduce themselves (something we all have to do at times).
